Seven selected films from Afghanistan, Iraq, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Vietnam, and Tunisia shape the film program (many people in East Leipzig come from these countries). Comic and absurd, documentary and unsettling, sometimes disturbing: These films, some of which will have their German premieres at the festival, focus on social, political, and existential themes. They are sometimes reserved, and sometimes very direct. Following the screenings, through conversations held with the filmmakers, their visions can be further clarified, and more information will be made accessible about the film techniques employed and the cultural backgrounds of the filmmakers.
